A future journalist? Kildare school child asks Minister her salary in hilarious moment

There was a funny moment in Newbridge last week when one pupil asked a very direct question of Norma Foley as the Minister of Education was unveiling the newly refurbished and extended St Conleth’s Infant School and St Conleth and Mary’s National schools.

Minister Foley cut the ribbon on new refurbishments and an extension last Thursday and as part of her visit fielded questions from the eager schoolchildren.

One pupil was well able to asked the hard questions and wanted to know how much money she earned and, while she did not divulge her salary, she said she was very happy with it to laughter from the crowd.

The Minister also let a chorus of 'happy birthday' to another student, David, in a moment he won't forget anytime soon.

Pupils of St Conleth’s Infant school also gave a lovely rendition of a beautiful song called ‘Happier’, written by teacher and song writer, Mairead Carroll. Not to be outdone, St Conleth and Mary’s pupils, which included 36 different nationalities, gave a stirring performance of the old Irish folk song, ‘Peigín Leitir Móir’.
