The Curragh Racecourse is readying itself for County Kildare’s biggest family garden party on Sunday September 15 to mark Day 2 of Irish Champions Festival.

Off track, over four acres of ground will be transformed with fun activities and playground rides for the kids who will also get a chance to meet one of our four legged stars thanks to retired racehorse Treo Eile, the not-for-profit charity behind Retraining Ireland’s Racehorses.

Continuing the horsepower theme, with thanks to Fitzpatrick’s Mercedes-Benz, an actual real-life Formula 1 simulator will also be present for the those wishing to experience what it’s like to be in control of one of the fastest racing cars on the planet.

For the sporting purists, horses will be travelling from as far as Australia to take each other on at the famous racecourse on the world’s biggest stage. If the Australian filly is declared as a contender for the race, it will be the first time ever that a horse from Australia has come to race here at The Curragh Racecourse.

Tara Buick from the Curragh Racecourse said “I honestly don’t think we could have squeezed in any more fun activities and events off the track, we aim to make this the biggest garden party this year in Co. Kildare with something for everyone, both young and old will love it. We can’t wait to have the Formula One simulator at the track for the first time.

"Musically we have we’ll have drummers, Newbridge Gospel Choir, the Havana Trio, Ramblin Rovers and the Artane Band creating some fabulous atmosphere. Of course we will also have our popular Kids Train, cartoon characters, face painters, bouncy castles and a caricaturist in place and ready to do their thing.”

Also on is a special treasure hunt with a unique Junior Racecard, a Curragh Spin the Wheel for kids with prizes like Mr Whippy vouchers, and goody bags.

Details of the big day at the curragh racecourse can be seen on www.curragh.ie and Champions Bundles are available up to September 8 , anyone who purchases a Champions Bundle will be entered into a raffle for an amazing 2025 Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby Day hospitality package worth €500.
