A planning permission application currently with Kildare County Council shows that new polytunnels are being sought for University College Dublin (UCD)'s Lyons Farm in Celbridge.

UCD Lyons Farm is seeking permission for the construction of two medium-sized polytunnels and two small-sized polytunnels, which would be used for research purposes.

Permission is also being sought for all associated site works.

The date received is listed as July 4 last.

The submission-by and due dates are listed as August 7 and August 28 respectively.

According to UCD's official website: the UCD Lyon's Farm is the teaching and research facility operated by UCD, around 30 kilometres west of the main UCD Campus at Belfield.

It was purchased by UCD back in 1963 and consists of approximately 250 hectares.
