Kildare teenager in historic Wheelchair Rugby League match

Wheelchair Rugby League (not to be confused with the paralympic Wheelchair Rugby) was developed in France over 20 years ago and is now starting to take hold in Ireland.

The first international Wheelchair Rugby League match in Ireland will take place on June 8th in Galway as Ireland host The Wheelchair Rugby League Celtic Cup on home soil for the very first time.

The one day event sees three matches played as Ireland, Scotland and Wales all face off against each other.

The ten strong Ireland squad includes a teenager from Kildare, Oran Spain.

The sports mad youngster is also heavily involved in Wheelchair Basketball Oran, now a two year veteran, played in the Wheelchair Rugby League World Cup at the Copperbox in London in 2022 whilst only 16 years old.
