NOTICE: Main Street of Newbridge, County Kildare, temporarily closed today

A temporary road closure is in place for the Main Street of Newbridge today.

An Garda Síochána explained in a notice posted on Facebook: "As part of the Junefest Festival 2024 in Newbridge there will be a road closure on Main Street Newbridge today Bank Holiday Monday, June 3, 2024.

"This road closure will start this morning at 11am, with the road opening back up at 6pm."

The account added: "The road will be barriered off from Canning Place (Johnsons Public House) to the Bank of Ireland Main Street making the area pedestrian only."

TRAFFIC PLAN

Please find Traffic Plan and Diversions that may affect you coming into Newbridge between 11am & 6pm today.

(A) Diversions for traffic coming from Naas
Traffic travelling on the R445 into Newbridge from the Naas Road will meet road closures just after the Liffey bridge where there will be 2 options

(1) All traffic including buses and large HGV’s will be diverted left to the R416 to the Athgarvan Road, which will bring you to the Dunnes Stores Junction where you take a left bringing you back onto the R445.

(2) Local traffic only may turn right for Canning Place (In direction towards Newbridge)

(B) Diversions for Traffic entering Newbridge from The Curragh Round About

Traffic travelling on the R445 into Newbridge from the Curragh Direction will meet barriers and road closures at the Post Office / Bank of Ireland Newbridge.

Local Traffic that meets the barriers at The Post Office Newbridge will be diverted left up Station Road, right onto College Park Road, right at Rowan Terrace and left back onto the R445 at the Liffey Bridge.

Prior to meeting these barriers, Traffic wishing to go through Newbridge including all buses and HGV’s will be diverted right at the Dunnes Stores Junction onto the Athgarvan Road and will continue until they meet the R445 at Canning Place Junction to drive over the Liffey Bridge, heading out the Naas Road.

OTHER DETAILS

Diversionary routes will be clearly signposted,

An Garda Síochána & Kildare Civil Defence will be present at Road closure points and will be there to assist.

Emergency access and restricted local access will be maintained.
