Relay for Life this year takes place once again at the Curragh Racecourse on 6th/7th July.
Team recruitment has been going very well and we hope that we could hit 20 teams and maybe even surpass the huge
amount raised in 2023 which was just over €124,000.
Teams are busy on many differing fundraisers in their own surrounding areas and such activities will increase as we approach July.
A novel event took place recently in St Farnan's Post Primary school in Prosperous where students walked 1.85 million steps for cancer and raised over E1000 which will be part of local Team Dinny's Disciples funds. This is another example of how Relay is reaching out to schools and younger people about cancer and early detection and the work of Irish Cancer Society.
Chairman Peter Whyte has also organised a visit to Newbridge by Professor Like O Neill to highlight the latest research towards a cure for cancer.
This takes place in Hotel Keadeen on 11th June and will also be including Claire Kilty who is Head of Research with ICS and a cancer Night Nurse. More details to follow on this.
Relay is a 24 hour event that sees local communities coming together to celebrate cancer survivors, remember loved ones lost and stand shoulder to shoulder with those facing cancer.
Relay is a celebration of solidarity and helps to raise awareness of the services provided by the Irish Cancer Society locally and nationally.
