 Maynooth University’s Development and Alumni Office celebrated its annual alumni reunion on Saturday, May 11, with graduates from the classes of 2014, 2004, 1994, 1984 and 1974 invited back to campus for a welcome reception in the halls of the cloisters of St Patrick’s House, and a celebratory lunch in the Pugin Hall, located on the South Campus. 
  
Alumni reconnected with former classmates and current and retired Maynooth University staff members. There were a strong presence from 1974 Geography graduates, who celebrate 50 years this year. The Glas String Quartet provided music as guests dined on a three-course meal. 
 
The President of Maynooth University, Professor Eeva Leinonen was in attendance, along with VP External Affairs, Rebecca Doolin. The President spoke with alumni about the growing Maynooth alumni community and what it means to be a Maynooth graduate. She also highlighted achievements of both the University and alumni over the past year. 
 
The reunion also included a special tribute to the achievements of the Maynooth Access Programme (MAP), which is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. MAP was established in 1999 to improve participation in higher education at Maynooth University. Director of Access at MU, Dr Rose Ryan, spoke about the impact of the programme, and expressed her gratitude to alumni, students and staff for the support. 
 
Maynooth University has over 105,000 alumni across the globe and over 15,000 students from more than 100 countries. Maynooth offers a range of programmes at undergraduate, Master’s and PhD level in the humanities, science and engineering, and social sciences, including business, law, and education.
