Council staff 'should do some work which is given to consultants'

Small scale studies should be done in house

Kildare County Council has been asked to stop recruiting consultants to undertake minor projects.

Outside consultants are taken on by KCC for a variety of tasks, at considerable expense to the taxpayer.

Fine Gael councillor Tracey O’Dwyer said “small scale feasibility studies” for public realm (roads, streets, lanes, parks)  projects should be done by council employees.

These studies are done to establish if the projects qualify for money from the central government.
