A male who was wearing a 'distinctive' piece of jewellery committed a knifepoint robbery in Newbridge, according to a garda.
Details of the incident were discussed by Garda Brian Carroll earlier today on KFM.
He told host Eoin Beatty that on Saturday, March 30 last, at around 7pm, staff working at the Spar store on Edward Street were threatened at knifepoint by a lone male.
Gda Carroll said that the male attempted to take a sum of money from the till, but the staff couldn't access the cash inside the till, due to a timer-lock.
He added that the perpetrator tried to open the till, but was unable to do so, and so he fled the scene.
According to Gda Carroll, the male is described as being around 5 foot 10 inches in height, and was wearing a grey, puffy jacket with black trousers and runners.

He also said that the male was wearing a 'large, distinctive gold ring on his left hand.'
Gda Carroll concluded by urging anyone with any information in relation to this incident to contact Newbridge Garda Station on 045 440 180.
The Leinster Leader enquired about the incident to An Garda Síochána.
In response, a spokesperson for An Garda Síochána had this to say: "Gardaí received a report of an incident of robbery that occurred at approximately 7pm on March 30, 2024 on Edward Street, Newbridge, County Kildare.
"No arrests have been made."
The spokesperson added: "Investigations are ongoing."
