Man killed in tragic Kildare road crash named as tributes are paid
The man killed in a crash on the M4 in Co Kildare last week has been named as 49-year-old Aidan O'Brien from Co Offaly.
Mr O'Brien died when his car was in collision with another on the M4 Westbound in Kildare last Wednesday, March 13.
The deceased, who is from Ballynanum, just outside Edenderry, has been remembered in recent days after the tragic news was shared.
His RIP.ie notice read: "Aidan will be sadly missed and forever remembered by his heartbroken family: parents John (Baw) and Anne, wife Marie, sister Martina (Sharpe), brothers Lar, Mark, Paul and Declan, brother-in-law Brendan, sisters-in-law Sharon, Evelyn, Siobhan and Kathryn, his adored nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, extended family (Doyles, O’Briens & Byrnes), friends and neighbours."
One tribute to him read: "Marie there are no words, I am heartbroken for you at your loss, and so so sad. You were his rock and best friend. I had the pleasure of having Aidan as my good friend for many years. He was a real character, so thoughtful, caring, witty and never had a bad word to say about anybody. He loved the craic, never came empty handed to my house, great cook, and willing to help anyone.
"Such shock and disbelief, Aidan thank you for everything, great memories of you...will miss you.Thinking of Aidan's family at this time," it concluded.
Another former school pal wrote: "Deepest sympathies to the O’Brien family on the sudden passing of Aidan. I’ve great memories of Aidan from our school days in St Mary’s [Edenderry]. Thinking of you all at this very sad time. May Aidan’s gentle soul rest in peace."
A third added: "I am truly sorry for your loss. Aidan was a very genuine and likeable man. He was a gentleman in the true sense of the word and his presence in the world will be sadly missed."
Funeral arrangements are not yet available.
Gardaí are continuing to appeal to any witnesses of the collision to come forward. Additionally, road users with camera footage, including dash-cam recordings, who were in the vicinity at the time are urged to provide this footage to investigating Gardaí.
