Hairline cracks may appear in the bike frames, according to the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC)

ALERT: Faulty bicycles recalled due to major risk of frame breaking

A popular bicycle brand is urging customers to stop using dozens of models due to a major risk of potential injury. 

According to the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC), Babboe is preparing a recall of City, City E, Mini and Mini-E cargo bikes. 

Hairline cracks may appear in the frame of these models, which can lead to the frame breaking and potential serious injury. 

The models affected are Babboe City, City E, Mini and Mini-E, however Babboe are also advising customers against using the following models "for the time being": 

  • Babboe Curve/Curve Mountain
  • Babboe Big
  • Babboe Dog
  • Babboe Mini Mountain
  • Babboe Pro Trike
  • Babboe Pro Trike XL
  • Babboe Carve Mountain
  • Babboe Slim Mountain
  • Babboe Go Mountain
  • Babboe Flow Mountain
  • Babboe City Mountain

Electric bikes:

  • Babboe Curve-E
  • Babboe Big-E
  • Babboe Dog-E
  • Babboe Max-E
  • Babboe Pro Trike-E
  • Babboe Carve-E
  • Babboe Go-E
  • Babboe Flow-E

Customers with a Babboe City, City E, Mini and Mini-E cargo bike model can enter their frame number on www.checkyourframe.co.uk to see if their cargo bike falls within the recall. 

For further information on where to find your cargo bike's frame number, customers can visit the guide available on Babboe’s website. 

Babboe will contact affected customers about the recall timing and next steps as soon as possible.
