It has been announced by Kildare County Council (KCC) that it intends to close two roads in Newbridge.
KCC said in a statement that (on behalf of Coffey Construction) it gives notice in accordance with Section 75 of the Roads Act, 1993 and the Roads Regulations, 1994 that it intends to close the Standhouse Road on Monday, March 25, 2024 to April 6, 2024.
Specifically, KCC will close the road from Pollardstown Road / Standhouse Road to the Seven Springs housing estate for a total of 13 days.
This closure will occur in order to allow KCC to facilitate the resurfacing of the road.
ALTERNATIVE ROUTE
Traffic travelling on The Curragh Chase / Standhouse Road heading for Newbridge will be diverted onto Pollardstown Road / Rathbride Road.
Traffic will travel Rathbride Road following diversion signs.
Traffic can make a right turn onto the R415 / Milltown Road.
Traffic will make another right turn onto the R416 back toward Newbridge.
SECOND CLOSURE
KCC also announced another road closure, which also relates to the Standhouse Road.
The road will be closed from The Seven Springs housing estate to Pollardstown Road / Standhouse Road for 13 days.
ALTERNATIVE ROUTE
Traffic travelling on Langton Road heading for The Curragh will be diverted at the Langton / Morristown Road Junction.
Traffic will continue straight on Morristown Road, turning left at the Morristown/Station Road R416 Junction.
Traffic will travel to Milltown and take a left turn at the R415 / R416 Junction.
Traffic can continue on the R415 following diversion signs.
Traffic will make a left turn onto Rathbride Road following onto the R413 to The Curragh Racecourse.
KCC said: "Diversionary routes will be clearly signposted, as agreed with the Council and An Garda Síochána.
"Emergency access and restricted local access will be maintained."
KCC further said that any objections/observations should be lodged in writing to the A/Senior Executive Officer, Transport, Mobility and Open Spaces, Kildare County Council, Áras Chill Dara, Devoy Park, Naas, County Kildare, or directly on the consultation portal at https://consult.kildarecoco.ie/en on or before 5pm on Monday, March 4, 2024.
