An assault incident is currently under investigation by members of An Garda Síochána based in North Kildare.
An AGS spokesperson told the Leinster Leader about the incident: "Gardaí received a report of an incident of assault that occurred at approximately 11pm on Sunday, February 25, 2024 on the Dunboyne Road in Maynooth, County Kildare.
"No arrests have been made at this time."
The spokesperson added: "Investigations are ongoing."
According to Garda Jennifer Finnegan, who discussed the incident with KFM Radio this morning, the victim was an elderly man, and the assault is believed to have been committed by two males.
She also told host Eoin Beatty that anyone with information about this incident is being encouraged to contact Leixlip Garda Station on (01) 666 7800.
