He got the benefit of the Probation Act

There is increasing concern over the future of Naas Courthouse

Naas Courthouse

A man who was given  the benefit of the Probation Act was told by the presiding judge that it was because the court hearing took place on Valentine’s Day.

Before Naas District Court was Dylan McMahon, 29, whose address was given as 57 Kilpatrick, Kildangan, Monasterevin.

He is currently in custody and appeared by videolink to answer a claim that he was intoxicated at North Main Street, Naas, on July 14, 2023.

“This is a present from me to you on Valentine’s Day,” the judge told the man who, when asked by the judge if he knew what day it was, answered “I haven't a clue.”

“It’s Valentine’s Day,” the judge told him and there was laughter in the courtroom when the man responded “Ah, jaysus.”
