Convicted for drug-driving offence near Naas, County Kildare

An Athy man has been disqualified from driving over a drug-driving offence.

Joseph McHugh, with an address given as 50 Green Hills in Athy, was convicted of the offence at Naas District Court on Thursday, February 8 last.

Gardaí told Judge Desmond Zaidan that on February 17, 2022, the 46-year-old was caught driving with cocaine in his system at Killashee in Naas.

The court was told that he has one previous conviction for a drink-driving offence committed in 2013.

Judge Zaidan imposed a one-year driving ban on Mr McHugh.

He also fined Mr McHugh €400, and gave him three months to pay this fine.
