A woman offered her hat and scarf to a sitting judge in a cold courtroom
Judge Desmond Zaidan complained about the low temperature in Courtroom 1 at Naas Courthouse.
He was dealing with cases at the regular Naas District Court session.
“It’s freezing cold here; when I leave the courtroom my knees are cold and my hands are cold. It’s not right,” said the judge, who has previously criticised the chilly atmosphere in the building during the winter months.
He added it’s not just him who complains about the cold.
One of the people who appeared before him had not paid management fees and this led to the prosecution.
He adjourned the case to allow her to do so.
One her way out she offered the white woollen hat and matching scarf she was wearing to the judge.
“I’ll give you a loan of my hat and scarf,” she said jokingly as she left the building - and the low temperature - behind her.
Judge Zaidan saw the funny side of the comments but he didn’t take up the offer.
