A council-driven plan is being sought for a road in the Kildare-Newbridge Municipal District (MD).

The request for Kildare County Council (KCC) to create the plan was made at the latest MD meeting, which was held on Wednesday, January 17 last, by Fianna Fáil Cllr Noel Heavey.

Specifically, Cllr Heavey asked KCC to 'outline measures to improve access and safety for motorists and others using the Newbridge Road to access Rathangan-Naas Road at Paddy’s Bridge, Thomastown.'

In reply to his motion, KCC told Cllr Heavey via its report at the meeting: "The MD office regularly cut the hedges and strim around the bridge at this location.

"Visibility is the main issue over the bridge."

KCC continued: "The MD office will include the location in the line marking programme to freshen up the centre and stop lines.”

"There are no plans for any additional works at this location," KCC concluded.
