KILDARE: Naas residents 'can't exit estate because of traffic volumes'

People living in a new Naas residential area are finding it difficult to get out of their estate because of heavy traffic on the nearby road.

Cllr Anne Breen made a call for Kildare County Council to provide a yellow box at the entrance/exit to the Castle Farm estate where it joins the ring road, close to Newbridge Road.

“There are two estates there and it’s nearly impossible for people to get in or out. It is a dangerous road” she told a Naas Municipal District meeting.

However, Cllr Evie Sammon said this might not be the answer because traffic is moving along the ring road “so a junction box might not solve the problem.”

Naas Mayor Bill Clear suggested a signalised junction, which will prioritise pedestrians should be provided at the location.

Kildare County Council is to carry out an assessment of the location.
