This was the scene when two cars skidded on black ice in separate incidents and both crashed into a field.

Dublin Fire Brigade urged road users to take care on slippery roads.

Firefighters also asked drivers to fully defrost their vehicles before leaving home to improve visibility and to stop ice falling from the vehicle onto the road.

The incident happened on Monday morning as temperatures dipped below freezing, according to Dublin Fire Brigade.

A Dublin Fire Brigade spokesperson said:

"Two separate road traffic collisions this morning in the same spot.

"There was a lot of black ice this morning.

"We are asking road users to slow down defrost your car before leaving home.

"Give yourself extra time."
