Restoration plans for disused lodge building in North Kildare

Restoration plans are being considered for a disused lodge building located in a North Kildare town.

Janus Securities Limited is seeking planning permission from Kildare County Council to restore the Leixlip Gate Lodge, Leixlip Gate, Kilamacredock Upper, Kilamacredock, County Kildare.

According to the current application, the company intends to restore, reinstate and adapt the Lodge as a two-storey dwelling.

The application (which is currently in the pre-validation stage) says: "It is to be noted that the Lodge abuts an adjoining property, Leixlip Gates, which is a Protected Structure RPS number B11-113.

"The works to the Lodge, all within the existing building footprint and carcass, will include: the replacement of the roof with a double-pitched slated roof with solar panels fitted on the south facing pitch; at the original first floor level, the reinstatement of the joisted timber sheeted floor, the formation of two bedrooms and a shower room; at ground floor level, the lowering of the floor the formation of a living room, a kitchen dining area, a utility area and cloakroom."

Planning permission is also being sought for the installation of a domestic sewage treatment plant and any contingent ancillary works.

The date received is listed as December 22 last, while the submission-by and due dates are listed as February 3 and February 24 last respectively.

The business information website vision-net.ie lists the establishment date of Janus Securities Ltd as 1973.
