An assessment has been sought by a county councillor for a new potential transport route located within the Kildare-Newbridge Municipal District (MD).

The call was made by Fine Gael Cllr Tracey O’Dwyer, at the latest MD meeting held on Wednesday, December 13 last.

She put forward the following motion to Kildare County Council (KCC) at the meeting: "That the council ask Local Link if an assessment could be carried out to demonstrate to the National Transport Authority the need for a bus route from Athgarvan to Pipers Hill and Naas Hospital."

Her motion was seconded by her party colleague Cllr Peggy O’Dwyer.

In response to her motion, KCC wrote in its report at the meeting that, 'with the members agreement', KCC’s Transport Department would write to Local Link regarding her motion.

Cllr Tracey O’Dwyer reiterated her call by telling a representative of KCC at the meeting: "Whether a feasibility study or an assessment needs to be carried out, this needs to be looked at."

Echoing her sentiments, Cllr Peggy O’Dwyer said that she supported the motion.

After a brief consideration, the members of the MD agreed to write to Local Link regarding Cllr Tracey O’Dwyer’s suggestion.

Councillors Tracey O'Dwyer (LEFT) and Peggy O'Dwyer, both of whom are members of Fine Gael.
