The woman will appear before Naas District Court this morning, according to a garda spokesperson.
A woman is due to appear before a Kildare court charged with a number of thefts in Newbridge, Athy and Maynooth, as well as other in regions across Ireland.
Commenting on the development, a garda spokesperson said: "As part of Operation Táirge and ongoing investigations into retail theft across the Eastern Region, gardaí attached to Leixlip Garda Station recently arrested and detained a woman in her 50s, in connection with 11 incidents of alleged theft from retail premises in Newbridge, Portlaoise, Athy, Kilkenny, Wexford and Maynooth.
"The woman has since been charged and is expected to appear before a sitting of Naas District Court this morning, Wednesday, December 13, 2023 at 10.30am."
The spokesperson added that 'investigations ongoing.'
