Athy
Kildare County Council has ruled out the possibility of buying land near an old cemetery.
A request to explore the option of acquiring lands in close proximity to St Mary's Cemetery, Athy, as made by Cllr Veralouise Behan who said this land could be used to create parking facilities for people wishing to visit the cemetery.
The cemetery is the burial palace for many people who were in the workhouse and the county home.
However, KCC pointed out that it is not in the ownership of the council and “parking is available in the vicinity.”
