Kildare-based company, Argand Switchgear were winners last Friday night at The Sisk Supply Chain Awards 2023 at the Convention Centre Dublin. The family business is led by Frank Lord and his son, Mark Lord. They were winners in the ‘Supply Chain Partner of the Year – Sensori FM’ category.

Argand Switchgear was established 25 years ago to provide low-voltage switchgear solutions for the Irish market. Since it's incorporation, the company has grown steadily to become a respected and proven manufacturer of low-voltage switchgear for both the Irish and foreign markets.

Sisk celebrated its annual Supply Chain Awards which has grown to become one of the biggest occasions in Irish construction, at The Convention Centre Dublin on Friday night with over 900 people in attendance. The gala ceremony brought its Irish, UK and European supply chain partners together with 200 of its sub-contractors and suppliers shortlisted for awards with 19 winners on the night.

Ahead of its annual Supply Chain Awards, Sisk carried out research with its suppliers, sub-contractors and manufacturers that indicates an upward trend in sustainability awareness and engagement in the construction sector with 59 percent of its suppliers having a net-zero and carbon reduction plan compared with just 52 percent in 2022.

Sisk is also perceived as being further advanced in its approach to eliminating carbon emissions across its business  compared with other construction companies (2023: 51 percent) V (2022: 45 percent).

Over 60 percent of the Sisk supply chain are aware of its 2030 Sustainability Roadmap – Building today, Caring for tomorrow compared with 54 percent in 2022. Furthermore, 55 percent believe that Sisk is performing better in sustainability  comparison to other contractors.

As part of its 2030 sustainability roadmap ‘Building today, Caring for tomorrow’, Sisk submitted its greenhouse gas emission reduction targets to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). The SBTi drives ambitious climate action in the private sector by enabling organisations to set science-based emissions reduction targets. The SBTi’s Target Validation Team has classified Sisk’s scope 1 and 2 target ambition and has determined that it is in line with a 1.5°C trajectory.

Mark McGreevy, Chief Commercial Officer, Sisk, said, “Congratulations to Frank, Mark and the Argand Switchgear team on their award win. Our Supply Chain Awards help us to advocate for innovation and sustainability, using Modern Methods of Construction, offsite fabrication and transforming our digital capabilities. The Awards give us the opportunity to recognise and appreciate excellence across our entire supply chain. On behalf of Sisk, I would like to congratulate all of our winners.”
