A fundraiser has been set up on the website GoFundMe in order assist a deceased man's family in paying for his funeral expenses.

Social Democrats councillor Chris Pender, who is based in Newbridge, organised the fundraiser 'Make a Difference for Pa Costello's Family', which currently has a €6,500 goal.

Speaking about the aim of the fundraiser, Cllr Pender said: "We come together in a time of grief to support Pa Costello's family as they navigate the difficult journey of honoring their loved one.

"Pa Costello was a cherished member of our community, known for his boundless kindness and generosity."

He continued: "As we gather to remember and pay our respects, we also aim to alleviate the financial burden that comes with the loss of a loved one.

"Your contributions will go directly to helping Pa Costello's family cover funeral expenses.

"Every donation, no matter how small, makes a meaningful difference; your generosity will provide much-needed support and solace during this challenging time.

"Let's join hands and stand by Pa Costello's family as they say their final goodbyes and celebrate his life."

Cllr Pender concluded: "Your support is a true testament to the compassion and unity of our community."
