KILDARE: Electrics vehicle charges are not being installed fast enough

Green Party councillor Peter Hamilton

The delay in providing an electric vehicle charger in Maynooth has been criticised.

At a Clane-Maynooth Municipal District meeting, Cllr Peter Hamilton asked that Kildare County Council provide “an update and timeline” for the charger to be installed at council car park at Maynooth town centre.

The job is being done in conjunction with the ESB.

According to Kildare County Council, the ESB must first provide a cable and chargers are then installed - but it was not clear when exactly the work will be completed.

KCC is in contact with ESB Networks about a timeline for the installation.

“We’re way behind on this. We’ll get this one in and then look for 10 more,” said Cllr Hamilton.
