Councillors present at the latest Kildare-Newbridge Municipal District (MD) meeting overwhelmingly agreed to keep the Christmas time parking arrangements the same as last year's.
The meeting took place on Wednesday, October 18 last.
The motion was proposed by Fine Gael Cllr Peggy O'Dwyer, and was seconded by Fianna Fáil Cllr and leas Cathaoirleach Anne Connolly.
Although there was some confusion about the arrangements at the meeting, after a brief adjournment of the motion, the administrator of the meeting was later able to clarify that no suspension of the pay-parking plan took place in 2022.
The matter was then put to the floor and the MD representatives were asked if they wanted to leave the plan as is: this motion was proposed by Fianna Fáil Cllr Suzanne Doyle, and was seconded by her party colleague, Cllr Rob Power (who attended the meeting by virtual means).
After a swift vote, the councillors agreed to make no changes, and to keep the same arrangements as last year.
