Kildare Town’s Night With The Stars concert

Kildare Town’s Night With The Stars concert

In the sixties and seventies Kildare Town was known throughout Ireland for the array of international and national performers that played there.

Stars like Roy Orbison, Slim Whitman, Andy Stewart, Ruby Murray, The Tremeloes, Brendan Boyer and The Royal Showband, Joe Dolan, Dickie Rock, Roly Daniels, Ray Lynam and Sandy Kelly to name but a few.

In 2017 Cill Dara Historical Society organised a Nostalgia Night Concert to let locals relive some of their memories, and to get together and enjoy top class entertainment at their doorstep instead of the bother of having to travel a distance and the associated hassle.

The night was sold out early and enjoyed by all who were lucky enough to get tickets.

The next few years saw another five sold out concerts take place and were now part of the social and entertainment calendar of the town.

Covid unfortunately brought about the cancellation of the next three concerts, but following renewed calls for a return, Joe Connelly and Kildare Town’s local history group, in association with Kildare Town Community School (KTCS), are delighted to announce that they are presenting a Lilywhite Valentine’s Week Night with the Stars Concert on Saturday, February 17 in KTCS, Dunmurry Road, Kildare Town.

A fantastic lineup of award winning Irish country and popular music stars will be performing on the night including Trudi Lalor, Paddy O’Brien, Sandy Kelly, Owen Mac, Tony Kerr, The Leah Moran Stage School, Gary Gamble (aka Daniel O’Double) and Pascal Brennan (Joe Dolan Tribute).

The backing band will be Country Harmony and the compere is KFM’s King of Country, Liam Kett. Admission is by ticket only and early booking is advised to avoid disappointment. Tickets are €30 (covers the concert, programme and refreshments during the interval).

This is the perfect birthday, christmas or valentine present. The concert will start at 8pm sharp. There is no reserved seating and doors will open at 6.30pm. To book tickets or for any further information phone Joe Connelly on 086 168 62 36, or Martin Connelly on 087 798 07 56.

Tickets are also available from Seanchai Books, Claregate Street, Kildare Town; Malones (Louis Hennessy’s) Claregate Street, Kildare Town; Kildare Town Tourist Office and Heritage Centre, Market Square, Kildare Town; Cathy Hickey, Bishopsland, Kildare; Kildare Town Community School; Aras Bhride, Kildare Parish Centre and Clarke’s Menswear, Edward Street Newbridge.

So come and sing along and tap your feet to your favourite songs. Tickets once again are like gold dust so don’t delay, book today …. When they are gone .. They are definitely gone.
