A Senator has called on the government to provide business supports for South Kildare business owners ahead of Budget 2024.
Fianna Fáil Senator Fiona O'Loughlin made the appeal while speaking in the Seanad this week.
She said: "Kildare South holds tremendous potential for economic development. It boasts a strategic location, well-connected transport links, and a skilled workforce.
"However, in order to fully harness these advantages, it is crucial that we prioritize key areas in building a robust and sustainable economy.
"It is vital that we support and nurture our existing businesses also, both small and large."

Senator O'Loughlin continued: "Local enterprises are the lifeblood of our economy, providing jobs, goods, and services to our community.
"Through strategic partnerships, training programs, and access to capital, we can help our local businesses flourish, ensuring they have the resources and support they need to thrive and expand."
"We must prioritize infrastructure investments that will facilitate economic growth and improve the quality of life for our residents.... this includes upgrading our transportation networks, enhancing broadband connectivity, and supporting the development of modern and sustainable infrastructure.
"By prioritizing these investments, we can unlock new opportunities for businesses, attract new residents, and improve the overall economic competitiveness of our region."
She further said that from her experience of speaking to local business owners, she 'knows' that they have concerns about the uncertainty with the modern day economy.
The Kildare-based politician said: "We are very lucky to have a well-diversified economy in Kildare, and I know only too well the entrepreneurship skills that exist."
"It is vital the Department protects our local businesses," she concluded.
