Judge Desmond Zaidan.
A Naas District Court judge re-iterated his anti-drug legislation stance during a court session which took place on Thursday, September 28.
Judge Desmond Zaidan made the comments during a case involving a defendant with an addiction to illicit substances.
Commenting on the case to the man’s solicitor, Judge Zaidan said: "Drugs are involved in so many (criminal) cases... then we have some people who say 'let’s legalise everything.'
"(If they do), I sincerely hope that they build more state-of-the-art rehab centres... they (the government) can’t even build a Children’s Hospital."
He added: "Talk about putting the cart before the horse. I’m saying all this for the next generation of Ireland."
