A cancer support centre based in County Kildare will host a fashion show at Barberstown Castle to mark its 20th anniversary.

The Little Way Cancer Support Centre (LWCSC) was set up in October 2003 to provide an emotional and practical support centre for those affected by cancer and their families in Kildare.

All funds raised go directly to therapy sessions for the centre's clients.

Commenting on the upcoming event, a spokesperson for the LWCSC said: "This year the centre celebrates 20 years in the community and the funds raised at the event will ensure these much needed vital supports can be provided free of charge to the clients.

"By donating a prize to our raffle, your support will be noted in our list of sponsors at the event."

The spokesperson also talked about the work that LWCSC does: "The centre is a completely volunteer-led service and our ethos is to take the fear out of the word cancer and provide them with the emotional support to those and their family on their cancer journey.

"Our services are free of charge and can be accessed by anyone who has been diagnosed, living with a diagnosis, bereaved, is caring for someone be it a family member or friend."

They added: "We offer clients a safe and caring environment where they can access: a drop-in service where you can meet with one of our volunteers who will listen and provide practical help, information and support; one-to-one counselling on an appointment basis; access to complementary therapies, for example, reflexology, Reiki and Tai Chi; support groups to share your cancer journey experiences; and access to wellness and welfare information.

"In 2022, we provided over 850 hours of counselling, holistic therapies and well being supports to clients affected by cancer.

The LWCSC is based in Clane and is open to clients Monday to Wednesday from 10am to 3pm and Thursday 10am to 2pm.

The fashion show will be hosted by Diamon and Pearls, and will take place on October 12 at 6.30pm.

Tickets €30.
