CULTURE NIGHT IN KILDARE: Kilcullen: Pakistani art in Ireland

Kilcullen: Pakistani art in Ireland

XX

This exhibition in Kilcullen Library brings together a series of paintings and prints made by Sobia and Jaweria.

On Culture Night, the artist will be there to talk about her work. Sobia was born in Pakistan and while living in Ireland she intends to integrate the culture of Pakistan with Irish culture. Drawing from her own background and cultural experiences, she has made paintings which show the Basant Festival, capturing the old historic Lahore Gate. Using printmaking techniques, she has created etchings which depict the history of the 1947 Partition and Great Migration. A few paintings have been done in the traditional 17th century style associated with the Moghal Era. Jaweria has made works in caligraphy and natural still life paintings.
