Members of Kildare Town AFC are spearheading a campaign to secure funding and erect a new full size 4G Astro soccer pitch at the club. As well as the new full-size 4G pitch, the new project also has plans for full drainage and Led floodlights.

Lesley Duffy, Kildare Town AFC member, said, "At present we are applying for grants from Sports Capital Programme Ireland and seeking from funding within the community. Kildare town AFC is at full capacity at the moment and to align with our growing and diverse town we need to utilise the grounds to include an Astro (pitch) to enable our club to grow and include diverse groups, as well as increasing female capacity.

"This will have a positive effect on the community as it will reduce our carbon footprint by having players stay in the area rather than having to commute to Newbridge or Naas for soccer. This will enable the inclusion of diverse groups represented within the town."

On top of campaigning to raise the the necessary funds, the club plan to do all they can to promote their vision and further ambitions for Kildare Town AFC. As well as also including a wild life section at the club to encourage growth for bees and nurture biodiversity.
