Sean Hall from Manguard
A big hearted Kildare company has helped to made a young racing workers charity endeavours easier by making a big donation.
Katy Brown, a racehorse worker and trainer is riding for the Injured Jockeys Fund and says she is the first racehorse trainer to ride in it.
She is taking part in three consecutive races and hopes to raise €10,000 for the fund. Kildare’s Manguard Plus, Ireland’s largest privately owned security firm, responded to her calls for sponsorship, adding a decent €2,000 to the pot.
Sean Hall CEO Manguard Plus said: “Jockeys work incredibly hard and sadly incurring injury is so often an occupational hazard for them.
"This can have serious knock-on implications for both their career and naturally their income so we are more than happy to support Katy as she works to help them”.
Katy Brown said: "The Injured Jockeys Fund is a lifeline literally for our colleagues who have had the misfortune to be hurt and those of us who work in the industry are doing all we can to help them”.
“I can’t thank Manguard Plus enough. I had a €10,000 target and their ready generosity has made reaching that so much more realistic. There is always a need for additional funding for jockeys who have been hurt , so all sponsorship is very much valued.”
