A defendant who appeared at a vacation sitting of Naas District Court on Thursday, August 24, allegedly stole cash and a number of items from bags belonging to beach-goers.
The accusation relates to Thomas Greene, with an address listed as 10 Sarsfield Street, Sallynoggin in County Dublin.
Gardaí alleged that the 31-year-old committed the offences at Tramore Beach in County Waterford on August 22 last.
A garda who took to the stand told substitute Judge Miriam Walsh that the alleged injured parties were children.
The garda added that the accused was identified by the alleged injured parties as the person who allegedly stole their belongings and money.
Mr Greene was also charged with an alleged offence of criminal damage, in which he is accused of smearing faeces on the walls of Tramore Garda Station on the same date.
Gardaí objected to bail being granted for Mr Greene, and after consideration, Judge Walsh decided to side with gardaí, and refused bail for the defendant.
He was kept in custody until his case resumed at Waterford District Court on August 29 last.
