Emily Square in Athy (via Googlemaps)
Kildare County Council is currently seeking a contractors to rejuvenate Emily Square in Athy through Public Realm and Civil Engineering Works.
The works include the reconfiguration of traffic circulation along the R417, restricted access along the west side of Emily Square and closure of the local road in front of Athy Heritage Centre.
The proposed works also comprise the upgrade of existing footpaths with paving and concrete, realigning kerblines and providing street landscaping.
The supply and installation of street furniture - such as seating, street lighting, signage, bollards, planters, interpretive signage - is also included.
The project also involves the removal of existing car parking and paving throughout the Square, as well as diverting new underground services, including drainage and sewerage, electrical ducting/cabling, telecommunications infrastructure, gas mains, and public lighting ducting/cabling.
