A free exhibition titled 'SOUND | IMAGE | CODE' is coming to the McKenna Gallery.
Kildare-based artist Gavin Casey investigates the intrinsic relationship between colour and sound, and its representation in art.
Gavin’s exploration into this realm began in 2001 while studying Fine Art at Dublin Institute of Technology (now TU Dublin).
Here, Gavin mapped vivid colours to the sounds of an African percussion instrument called the 'Djembe'.
These initial investigations paved way for Gavin’s artistic practice today, which is still firmly rooted in this area of engagement.
His work is abstract, emotive and created through a uniquely intuitive process.
For SOUND | CODE | IMAGE, Gavin has created a multi-sensory exhibition to captivate audiences of all ages.
Visitors can expect a new collection of paintings by the artist.
The collection comes to life through a series of Augmented and Virtual Realities.
Offering a unique insight into the construction (and de-construction) of the artistic process.
SOUND | CODE | IMAGE is supported by Kildare County Council Arts Service and Riverbank Arts Centre’s 'Emerging Visual Artist Bursary Award', which Gavin Casey was awarded in 2022.
