More needs to be done to promote the farmers market in Naas.

At a Naas Municipal District meeting, Cllr Bob Quinn asked if the market is achieving its potential.

“It needs some TLC to get it up and running,” he said, suggesting that Kildare County Council should clarify how the spaces there are used.

He also called for removal of a noisy generator immediately and a change of surface saying that the existing stones do not make it easy for a wheelchair user or someone with a child in a buggy to get around.

The market takes place every Saturday from 10am to 3pm.

The meeting was told that the management structure is now under review since the departure of the chairperson of the market and the increasing number of enquiries about the initiative.

Those interested in booking space at the site can send an email to thepotatomarket@kildarecoco.ie.
