The meeting with Uisce Éireann is being sought by local representatives for the Kildare-Newbridge Municipal District.
A meeting with Uisce Éireann (UE) is being sought by councillors from the Kildare-Newbridge Municipal District (MD).
The appeal was made by the local representatives at the latest MD meeting, which was held on Wednesday, July 19 last at the MERITS building in Naas.
Fine Gael (FG) Cllr Kevin Duffy urged Kildare County Council (KCC) to write to UE, in order to seek 'clarification and update on the temporary closure of Osberstown Water Treatent Facility for receiving septic tank waste from rural housing.'
Cllr Duffy’s motion was seconded Fianna Fáil Cllr Suzanne Doyle.
His motion was also supported by Social Democrats Cllr Chris Pender and FG Cllr Tracey O’Dwyer.
In response, KCC suggested in its report at the meeting that the members could contact UE directly via their email support address (at localrepsupport@water.ie) or by phoning 081-817-8178.

However, Cllr Duffy replied that he has tried to contact UE before, but he has been unable to.
Cllr Pender added: "It seems like Uisce Éireann is not taking the emails from councillors too seriously."
In addition, Cllr Doyle remarked that there seems to be 'a ridiculous situation' when it came to communicating with UE.
The local representatives brought the matter to a vote: that they write to UE and to ask them 'if they would be amenable to attending a full Council meeting.'
The councillors voted overwhelmingly in favour of sending the letter.
