KILDARE: Man who refused to pay taxi fare is driven to garda station

A taxi driver who was denied payment drove his passenger to Naas garda station.

Before Naas District Court was Modestas Kubilius, 3, whose address was given as Fr McVerry Homeless Shelter, Kerdiffstown, Naas.

He was prosecuted for refusing to pay the fare at McDonalds, Monread Road, Naas as well as possession of a blade and breaching the Public Order Act on December 16, 2022.

Sgt Dave Hanrahan said the driver came to the garda station with the defendant, who was refusing to pay.

Sgt Hanrahan said it will also be claimed that the defendant attempted to damage the car and became abusive.

When he was subsequently searched he had a knife.

Solicitor Joe Coonan indicated that the defendant will be pleading guilty.

Judge Desmond Zaidan adjourned the case to October 18.
