A number of works are planned for Athy Railway Station.
Planning permission documents lodged with Kildare County County show that Iarnród Éireann (IE) intends to construct a mobility impaired access structure (MIAS) at the station, which will be within the curtilage of a Protected Structure (NIAH Survey Data Reg. No. 11505163).
According to the description: "The structure is a hybrid assembly of different concrete and steel elements, including a pair of staircases (two flights each), free standing lift shafts, support portals and a walkway."
Permission is also being sought for associated works, which would include proposed palisade fencing at the base of the MIAS on both platforms, the removal of five car parking spaces, and ancillary works.
The date received is listed as July 17 last, while the submission-by and due dates are listed as August 20 and September 10.
