KILDARE COURT: Victims pushed to the ground, punched and kicked in assault - claim

A man and a woman were kicked, punched and pushed to the ground during an alleged assault incident in Kildare town.

Before Naas District court were brothers Adrian Filimon, 29, and  Marian Filimon, 30, whose addresses were given as 2 Friary Court, Bothairin na gCorp, Kildare town. They face an assault allegation.

Sgt Dave Hanrahan told the court that the incident happened on February 27, 2022.

He said a male and female were walking home when they were approached by three males, including the two defendants.

He said they were punched to the ground and the woman sustained cuts while the man sustained punches and kicks to the body, at Lourdesville.

The pair were sent forward to be tried by a jury and the court heard that the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions has consented to this.

The pair were sent forward to the next sittings of Naas Circuit court.

Judge Desmond Zaidan said that if an alibi forms any part of their defence they must provide details of this in advance of any trial taking place. The defendants has the use of an interpreter for the brief hearing.
