It’s the biggest race of the year for the female of the equine species for Juddmonte Irish Oaks day at the Curragh Racecourse but off the track sees arguably one of the most sought after style prizes of the year where one lucky lady will take away a huge €5,000 cash prize, helicopter trips and pure luxury from Barberstown Castle.

With a theme of ‘Classic Elegance with a Hint of Blue’ the famous Barberstown Castle Sapphire Style Awards takes place on Saturday 22nd July at the Curragh Racecourse as part of the Juddmonte Irish Oaks weekend. The well known luxury hotel which was once owned by rock music legend Eric Clapton have enlisted TV presenter Brian Dowling and his husband Arthur Gourounlian of ‘Dancing With The Stars’ fame as the day’s style competition judges and they will be joined by Barberstwon Castle’s Amanda Torrens and Katie Robinson on the judging panel.

This year's huge Sapphire style prize consists of a €5,000 cash prize, a two night stay at Barberstown Castle with dinner and a helicopter trip to The Curragh Racecourse on the 7th of October for a VIP day at the races.

Barberstown Castle owner Amanda Torrens said “We think that this will be one of the biggest and most prestigious style days of the year and we are really excited to see how entrants will interpret our theme of classical elegance with a hint of blue. Barberstown Castle has been at the heart of the Irish horse racing industry since 1288 and through the centuries since then there has been a steadfast interconnection between our historical hotel and all equestrian pursuits in the province.”
