Clane Musical and Dramatic Society has announced that this year’s drama production will be Brendan Behan’s The Hostage.

In the year of Behan’s centenary and with several professional productions being staged, the Society is grateful to have received approval to stage this historic and very funny play.

Meg – Jennifer O’Brien
Rio Rita – Aaron Donnelly
Mr. Mulleady – Mark Harkin
Miss Gilchrist – Maria Bolger
Colette – Caroline Hodson
Ropeen/Kate – Catherine Gallagher
Leslie Williams – Phil Darragh
Teresa – Niamh O’Carroll

The parts of the IRA Officer and The Volunteer will be played by Michael Kelly and Oisin Harrington.

The part of Monsewer will be cast this week. Princess Grace (Rio Rita’s boyfriend) and the Russian Soldier will be confirmed.
The play is being directed by Sadie O’Reilly, with choreography by Jennifer O’Brien.

The cast sing numerous songs (typical of Behan’s plays) and are looking forward to working with Martin Fahy, our Musical Director in August.

Aine Grace is our Props Mistress and is already busy sourcing or making a kilt for Monsewer, who also needs a set of bagpipes!
