Kildare pensioner was driving while under the influence of an intoxicant

There is increasing concern over the future of Naas Courthouse

A pensioner appeared in Naas District Court after landing himself in trouble over taking an intoxicant.

The man, aged in late 60s was prosecuted for attempting to drive while under the influence  of an intoxicant and dangerous driving on August 5 last at Sallins bypass, Barretstown.

Defending solicitor Tim Kennelly said the man lives on his own and is a little lonely and he allowed “others who may not be the best” into his home.

Mr Kennelly said he has also found the defendant to be a gentleman and he has opened his home to people.

He was fined €250 and disqualified from driving for two years.
