A female member of An Garda Síochána was allegedly bitten by a Russian national.
Ivan Matuashvili, with an address given as the Citywest Hotel in Citywest, County Dublin, was brought before Naas District Court on Thursday, April 27, by gardaí.
It was alleged that the 39-year-old was denied entry into a centre for asylum seekers. This allegedly prompted him to drive into two security people.
Gardaí added that he was later found drinking in a forest, but when he was brought back to a garda station, he allegedly bit a female garda in County Kildare on April 26 last.
A photo of the injury was shown to Judge Desmond Zaidan,
It was heard that the accused denied ever driving the car after being cautioned by gardaí.
The defendant in turn alleged that he lost a tooth in the garda station, and also pointed to bruises he sustained on one of his wrists.
When the judge asked him if he found the tooth, the man replied: "I lost it."
The case will resume on May 4, which is when directions from the Director of Public Prosecutions are also due.
Defending solicitor David Powderly said that while his client would not be making a formal bail application, he would be making an application for bail on the next court date.
