A Fine Gael councillor has admitted that he has been left disappointed by Kildare County Council (KCC)’s answer to a question he asked them.
Cllr Brendan Weld made his opinion known at the latest Clane-Maynooth Municipal District meeting, which was held on Thursday, April 6.
He put forward the following question to KCC: "Can the council outline what plans are in place to work with the local community with respect to 'Community Gain' aspect of the recent planning permissions granted in the 'Drehid Hortland (Donadea) Areas' regarding Solar Farms?"

In response, KCC said in its report at the meeting: "According to our records, there have been two permissions related to Solar Farm Development in this area during the period 2018 to 2019.
"With regard to community gain, the Draft Wind Energy Guidelines 2019 allow for the conditioning of community gain when deciding on an application for Wind Farms. However, no such provision or guidelines relate to Solar Farm Developments."
After hearing this, Cllr Weld admitted to the council that he was disappointed by its answer.
He also asked KCC 'for the condition of planning to be implemented.'
