KILDARE COURT: Stole 35 bottles of alcohol from supermarket

There is increasing concern over the future of Naas Courthouse

A man who stole 35 bottles of alcohol from a supermarket was given a custody term at a Naas District Court sitting.

Joseph O’Donoghue, 21, whose address was given as 1558 Lippstown, Narraghmore, was prosecuted for taking the alcohol, which had a value of €1,542 from the Dunnes Stores outlet at Manor Mills, Maynooth.

The court heard that the incident took place on January 18, 2021.

The court also heard that the defendant is currently in custody and has a young baby.

There was no violence during the incident and the defendant has no previous convictions.

The court was further told by barrister Aisling Murphy that  the defendant has suffered with his mental health and there was another party involved in the incident.

Judge Desmond Zaidan imposed a ten months custody term.
