Residents living in Sallins are being encouraged to take part in a survey.
UCD-based researcher Eva Hamilton has told the Leinster Leader that Sallins has been specially selected for the 'InPlace' survey, which was created alongside the International Centre for Local and Regional Development (ICLRD).
Ms Hamilton said that the InPLACE project, which has been running for the past two years, 'looks at the impact of commuting on rural areas using a case study approach.'
She further explained: "We are currently running a survey which we encourage anyone living in the village or its surrounding areas to take part in.
"I am also conducting interviews under two different sets of criteria: the first type is with commuters, that is anyone living in the area who regularly commutes to a place of work in another location, while the second is with community leaders/key figures under one of our themes, which include Health and Wellbeing and Housing.
"The data produced will fill a knowledge gap in the literature on rural towns in Ireland and will have very useful insights for future planning and policy making.
Ms Hamilton added: "We also believe that local community groups will benefit from our research in grant applications."
