A Carlow resident was accused of sending 'remarks of a menacing character' to a senior garda based in County Kildare.
The allegations relate to John Nolan, with an address given as 57 Hillbrook Estate in Tullow, County Carlow.
Judge Desmond Zaidan was told by gardaí at Naas District Court on Thursday, March 2 last that the 36-year-old had allegedly relayed the messages over the phone, which were aimed at the senior garda, on at least three separate dates in 2021.
It was heard the alleged offence would be in contravention of the Post Office (Amendment) Act, 1951.
The case will return to the court on March 16.
Directions from the Director of Public Prosecutions are expected on this date, and the judge remanded Mr Nolan on continuing bail until the case returns to court.
